February 22nd is World Encephalitis Day, as such for the next few weeks the communities' logos shall be going red across the board, and you may see some social media posts about this. #Red4WED.
Encephalitis is a horrific condition which causes inflammation and bleeding of the brain; often caused by either a bacterial/viral infection or an auto-immune response. In 2019, my mother suffered from encephalitis, where she had several strokes and bleeds on the brain simultaneously and very nearly died. It very nearly destroyed me carrying my mum into the house when she came back from hospital - luckily, she continues to recover and is doing amazingly to this day.
2019 was a very close call, and since then I've tried to educate people on encephalitis and donate where possible.
